Emma Lias is a physical theater performer, playwright, dancer, and all around theatrical mischief maker currently working out of Southern California. After sixteen years training under the Cecchetti Council of America, Emma transitioned out of classical ballet and centered her work in physical theater, training in Commedia Dell'arte, Contemporary American Clown, Performance Art, and Devised Ensemble Construction. Emma has most recently trained with Dell'arte International School of Physical Theater and ClownZoo LA. Emma's pedagogy combines the technical rigor of classical ballet with the creative and intellectual freedom of clown to engage students in process as well as performance.
